Repertoire
Starting in the 2012-13 season, we plan to hold three concerts a year in which we shall sing a wide repertoire of music, both classical and contemporary. Concerts over the last few years have included Handel's Messiah, Bach's Magnificat, Orff's Carmina Burana, Schubert's German Mass in F, Chilcott's The Making of the Drum and Fanshawe's African Sanctus.
The repertoire for 2010-11 included Handel's Coronation Anthems, Mozart's Great Mass in C Minor, and a celebration of choral music from the stage, including famous opera choruses and the magic of the musicals.
In February each year, we hold a workshop which is open to everyone who wants to come along and sing. People from other choirs are welcome as well as first-timers who would like to try singing with others. In recent workshops we have tackled Rutter's Birthday Madrigals, West Side Story, gospel music and most recently, the music of Lennon & McCartney. Our next workshop will be Karl Jenkins's The Armed Man on 4 February 2012.
